The total damage to Ukraine’s economy

During the first six weeks of the war, the total damage to Ukraine’s economy exceeded $500bn. According to government estimates, this figure could increase in the long run to $1trn, or five times last year’s GDP.

Ukraine’s economy is expected to shrink by an estimated 45.1 percent this year, although the magnitude of the contraction will depend on the duration and intensity of the war, says the World Bank.

At the same time, according to UN data, since the beginning of the war, the number of refugees from Ukraine who were forced to leave their homes and go abroad as a result of the Russian invasion has reached more than 6.5 million people.

Процедуру визначення шкоди та збитків, завданих Україні внаслідок збройної агресії Російської Федерації встановлює Порядок визначення шкоди та збитків, завданих Україні внаслідок збройної агресії Російської Федерації, затверджений постановою Кабінету Міністрів України від 20 березня 2022 р. № 326

Визначення шкоди та збитків здійснюється окремо за такими напрямами:

1) людські втрати та пов’язані з ними соціальні витрати – напрям, що включає всі людські втрати (смерть або каліцтво цивільних осіб), що виникли в результаті збройної агресії Російської Федерації, а також витрати, пов’язані з призначенням різних видів державної соціальної допомоги та наданням соціальних послуг.
